Meet the Team
Hi! Our names are Melissa and Alan and we look forward to meeting your fur family!
We've been providing professional pet care and dog training services to Northern Humboldt since 2022
Melissa
Founder & Dog Trainer
Melissa is a professional dog trainer and pet care provider. She supervises daycare and boarding, as well as provides house sitting, dog walking, training, and drop-in care services.
Melissa transitioned into dog training and pet care while working on a degree in Zoology, with an interest in animal evolution, behavior, and cognition.
Alan
Adventure Specialist
Alan is the team lead for Doggy Adventure Walks. He also supervises daycare and boarding. When Alan isn't leading the pack, he's hiking in Humboldt with his dog Flicker looking for culinary mushrooms and painting inspiration.
Alan is an accomplished oil painter with a degree from the Art Academy of Cincinnati. His subject matter ranges from natural history to urban landscapes.
Omen & Flicker
Professional Doggos
Omen and Flicker are Melissa and Alan's dogs, respectively. Their high-energy antics keep everyone on their toes!
Omen enjoys chase games with his friends, agility high jumps, amateur parkour., and backpacking trips.
Flicker likes long walks on the beach,is a world-class cuddler, and natural empath. He's never met a person he hasn't fallen in love with.

The benefits of professional pet care
Our structured style of pet care provides positive exposure to new experiences. Doggy Adventures give your pup the chance for sensory exploration and mental stimulation in varied environments. During guided play with other dogs, they learn social cues and appropriate dog-dog interaction. It's not just about wearing them out. We build confidence and better behaviors!
Daycare and boarding service includes 1 hr Doggy Adventure Walk or other in-house enrichment! Our drop-in care services include dog walking or indoor playtime with any remaining time after meals. Extend our stay for more play!
We take the health and safety of your pets seriously! Our team of pet care professionals is comprised of experienced dog trainers, dog walkers, and pet sitters. We maintain education certifications in pet sitting, doggy daycare, pet boarding, and pet first aid. We are also bonded, insured, and background-checked.
Our Doggy Adventures, leash walks, and enrichment activites are tailored to each individual. Does your pup prefer group play or solo adventures? Are they working on their recall skills or are they already a pro? We use long-lines, harnesses, GPS trackers, and recall training drills to boost their skills and keep them safe- all while having fun!
Report cards after service will include photographs or videos of your pet care service. We will also include relevant feedback about their behavior, meal time, potty issues, activity levels, and physical well-being.

Everyone in our team of pet care professionals is certified by the American Red Cross for Cat
and Dog First Aid, as well as equipped with a pet friendly first aid kit in our vehicles. We are prepared for emergencies whether it's a dog walk, drop-in, or at home care service.

Fear Free’s mission is to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress in pets. Our pet sitting team is dedicated to continuing their education on best practices in pet sitting safety, low stress animal handling, and compassionate, emotional-wellbeing focused care.

Our Fear Free certified Daycare and Boarding services focus on small group play sizes, plenty of calm downtime, redirection and training with positive reinforcement, and lots of 1:1 compassionate care and cuddles - all in a comfortable and safe homey environment.

Each our team members have completed and passed an enhanced background check through an industry-leading, third-party service. This search includes the Department of Justice's National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW), a search of the National Criminal Database for any disqualifying criminal offenses, and a search of county criminal court records based on the person's address history.
